Darren A. Patin

Mr. Patin is a Partner in the Metairie office and started with the firm in 2000. His practice consists primarily of employment practices, liability defense and casualty and property damage defense litigation. Mr. Patin represents parties in matters of complex litigation, including the defense of class actions, most notably three class actions involving the assertion of statutory and bad faith damages claims relative to claims adjusting practices in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He is also defending Chinese drywall litigation involving claims alleging coverage under policies of homeowner's insurance. Mr. Patin recently secured the first decision under Louisiana law holding that homeowner's insurance policies do not afford coverage for drywall claims.

Admissions and Affiliations

Mr. Patin is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texas and handles matters in state and federal courts. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the New Orleans Martinet Society. Mr. Patin is a Fellow of the Loyola Institute of Politics, and an appointee of the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as Ad Hoc Judge for the Municipal/Traffic Courts of New Orleans.
